Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP)
QWOCMAP promotes the creation, exhibition, and distribution of new films and videos that increase the visibility of queer women of color, authentically reflect their life stories, and address the vital social justice issues that concern our communities. They provide professional training, equipment, screening opportunities, and resources free of charge to guarantee full access to this traditionally underserved community, particularly low-income and immigrant queer women of color.
Madeleine Lim, founder of Queer Women of Color Media Arts Projects (QWOCMAP), provides artistic direction to all of the programs. Lim is a long-time community organizer and an award-winning filmmaker. She has won numerous awards, from organizations such as the San Jose Film & Video Commission and the National Educational Media Network. In 2004 and 2005, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors awarded Lim a Certificate of Honor in public recognition of distinction and merit for outstanding service to the people of San Francisco.
