Estacion
Odesia is an on-site
as well as a
satellite project for Bay Area Now 5, guest curated by
Julio Cesar
Morales, Brian Storts and Mike Bianco of Queens Nails Annex (QNA).
Estacion Odesia explores the work of Bay Area
artists who are also musicians and who make audio based projects. This
two-part exhibition will showcase the artists’ visual work at
QNA Gallery in the Mission District, while showcasing their audio
tracks in listening stations at YBCA. Listening stations will include
audio tracks by: Jerome Reyes and Dan Gonsales, Julian Myers, T.I.T.S,
The OhSees, Death Sentence Panda, Houndstooth & the Wolfhounds,
Kamau Amu Patton and Sean Horchy.
The exhibition at
Queens Nails Annex will include artwork by:
Jeff Kao, Renee Green, Kamau Patton, Sean Horchy, Nate Boyce, Frank
Ebert, Paul Allen, Paul Costeros, John Dwyer, Juan Luna-Avin, Mary
Elizabeth-Yarbrough, Katrina Lamb, Aurie Ramirez and Gerome Spruill.
Estacion
Odesia will also
include a limited
edition box set with CDs featuring artwork by Ariel and
Cliss Roman,
Ryan Verzaal, Pablo Guardiola and Renée Green, and
experimental audio from the artists and bands featured in the
exhibitions. Participants can join the “QNA/BAM Music
Club” to create downloadable play lists that will end in
monthly discussions at QNA

Popular!
(Popular Entertainment), a music
compilation featuring 25 different acts, mostly from Mexico but also
from Spain
and Argentina. The music represents various genres from the past 45
years of
rock music, including garage, punk, new wave, and electronic. The
selection of
songs combines rare tracks from out-of-print singles and albums and
newer
material from band websites.
The QNA/BAN Music Club events will occur on Aug 15, Sep 15 & Oct 17, 7 PM at 3191 Mission Street.
