YBCA invites you to join us in celebrating the opening of two very special exhibitions at a party featuring live performances, interactive artworks, cash bars, music and a special appearance by Black Elvis. Bring an object that you believe represents “Blackness” to donate to The Black Factory. Step up to the microphone and state your demands to create a better world.
Live performance by The Burning Embers playing fiery honky-tonk, bluegrass, and country music.
Local music promoter, Shelby Ash will be spinning his favorite bluegrass and old timey hits from the 1930s to present day.
Rare Blues, Swing, Hawaiian and Old-Timey Music Films

For many years, R. Crumb performed in the Cheap Suit Serenaders, a roving rag-tag band of musicians who played mostly covers of 20s blues, string and Hawaiian music. Tonight we present a selection of rare music films by many of the bands who inspired the Serenaders, from the archives of musicologist Dennis Nyback.
