Alban Berg's Wozzeck, landmark 20th Century opera, receives its US West Coast premiere by Ensemble Parallèle, San Francisco’s innovative contemporary opera company. This searing musical drama about the dark dilemmas of modern life is presented without intermission in German with English supertitles. Nicole Paiement conducts John Rea's heralded reorchestration in a cinematic production directed by Brian Staufenbiel. John Duykers, noted Bay Area tenor, and former San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow baritone Bojan Knezevic head the cast.
