Beautiful Losers

Beautiful Losers explores work of a diverse group of visual artists that have emerged from aspects of street culture loosely associated with the subcultures of skateboarding, graffiti, punk, and hip-hop in US urban centers. The core of the project involves painting, sculpture and photography, as well as film, video and clothing and product design by more than thirty individuals — some now established figures in the art world, but many receiving their first broad exposure here.

Space Requirements: Approximately 8-10,000 square feet (745-930 square meters). Some works require room construction or modification. Storage = approx 55 cubic meters.

Technical Requirements:
7-17 DVD presentations on monitors; 2 video projections; 1 audio piece on CD

Fee: $18,000 for 10 weeks, plus pro-rated shipping expenses. Travel expenses of two YBCA installation managers.
