Young Artists at Work
Make Art, Make Friends & Earn $200 a Month
Young Artists at Work is a paid, multidisciplinary arts, activism, and job training after-school program for San Francisco public high school teens. Students will develop artistic skills in bi-weekly workshops led by professional artists that will culminate in a public presentation of your work. Choose to explore visual or performance art. In addition, all students will attend the Film/Video as Activism class held on Friday. All classes are held at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts; Mon-Fri, 4–6pm. Put your art and activist skills into action during the summer through an internship at a variety of arts organization and gain hands-on experience in arts leadership!
YAAW endeavors to cultivate future generations of artist-activists by providing up to 20 ethnically diverse public high school students (ages 14-19) with an intensive 7 month hands-on arts studio-based experience with a team of professional artists. After reviewing an impressive field of applicants, YBCA's Community Engagement Department staff has selected the new YAAW class for 2009.
