Inside a London studio in 1983, artist Keith Haring began painting directly on choreographer Bill T. Jones' body with white acrylic paint. The body-drawing process lasted over four hours. Next, Tseng Kwong Chi photographed Jones’ spontaneous movements throughout the studio. The collaboration among the three artists culminated in a series of striking large-format photographs that celebrate the spirit of interconnected creativity that pulsed throughout the East Village in New York in the 1980s.
Five photos from this series will be on display at YBCA as part of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company 30th Anniversary Exhibition from Sep 20–Nov 3, 2013. Each photo is an edition of five digital C prints, 48” x 80” with a 1/8” plexi face mounted with Dibond Back and wood brace. Additionally on offer is a 20’’ x 16" silver gelatin print of Keith Haring and Bill T. Jones in a limited edition of 25.
