Volunteers Needed for Wallworks exhibition

Duration: July 1–August 1, 2009
Schedule: Flexible, generally 11 am to 4 pm

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), the contemporary multidisciplinary arts center in San Francisco's arts district, is preparing for an exciting upcoming exhibition Wallworks. Eight internationally acclaimed artists have been commissioned for Wallworks to create new large-scale works celebrating the architecture of YBCA's exhibition spaces. Paintings, wall reliefs, and collages by Makoto Aida, Edgar Arceneaux, Chris Finley, Tillman Kaiser, Odili Donald Odita, Amanda Ross-Ho, Yehudit Sasportas and Leslie Shows will fill the wall surfaces of YBCA's galleries and public spaces. During an open studio period of the installation, the galleries will be open to the public.

YBCA is looking for a group of volunteers to assist the Wallworks artists as they work on site. Volunteers will be part installation assistant, part ambassador, and part gallery guide. This is a great opportunity for people interested in working closely with acclaimed artists and helping an idea become reality on YBCA walls. Strengths and skills of volunteers will be matched with needs of the artists. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, but lunch will be provided most days and relevant expenses (such as mileage) will be reimbursed.
