Media Internship
Status: Unpaid Internship
Work Schedule: Three-month commitment minimum starting June/July. Must be available for some evening/weekend events.
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) is a multidisciplinary contemporary arts center anchoring the arts district at 3rd and Mission in downtown San Francisco in the beautiful Yerba Buena Gardens. YBCA presents bold and innovative contemporary visual art exhibitions, performances and film/video screenings that provoke dialogue on the vital issues of our time.
We have a great opportunity for a Media Intern to join our Community Engagement department. Working closely with the Interactive Media Manager, you will learn and apply skills related to video production at YBCA.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist with various aspects of YBCA's video production including camera operation, audio recording, minor video editing, and production logistics
- Help coordinate schedules and handle correspondence for YBCA's Inside Out series and Writers Circle, a web-based video series that documents the behind-the-scenes work and highlighted exhibitions, performances, film/video screenings, and community engagement programs presented by YBCA
- Provide general administrative support and conduct additional research as needed
Qualifications
- Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited academic program and authorized by their school to participate in the internship
- Must have interest in contemporary art and video production, new media initiatives and technology; course work or experience in non-profit administration a plus
- Must have experience with digital video camera operation; sound recording and video editing a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines required
